EAST AFRICAN CONFERENCE IN KENYA

In November 2024 the Brunstad Christian Church (BCC) fellowship in Kisii, Kenya hosted the annual BCC East African Conference. Participants from other BCC fellowships in Kenya as well as from Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Norway – in total approximately 100, attended the conference.  On arrival at the conference centre in Kisii, participants were warmly welcomed by their hosts with a refreshing meal of locally grown fresh produce.

At the opening church service of the conference, guest speaker Tielman Slabbert, the spiritual leader of BCCSA, spoke of the importance of having faith and trust in God in all aspects of daily life, including in the spiritual battle against sin.  He emphasized that overcoming sin is possible for all who believe in God.

On the second day of the conference an open forum was held in the morning. This proved to be very helpful to participants who posed interesting questions about applying the Gospel in practical daily life and how best to serve God.  A picnic was arranged for the afternoon, and this provided the opportunity for relaxation and fellowship, while the young and energic played football.

The theme of a special dinner held on the Sunday evening was “The Kingdom of God”. Spiritual messages from various speakers were interspersed with inspiring songs by choirs from Tanzania, Kisumu and Kisii.

On the final day of the conference the new intake of young people joining the 2025 Christian Youth Development & Empowerment Program (CYDEP), met with Tielman Slabbert and other members of BCCSA, as well as several former graduates from the CYDEP.  The conference concluded with an edifying youth service.

During their stay in Kisii several members from BCCSA visited the site of one of the micro-finance projects, where concrete products are manufactured. This is a fundraising initiative managed by a member of the BCC fellowship in Kisii and overseen by BCC Africa’s Micro-Finance team. Discussions were held regarding future development opportunities for the project.
